Sweet, Sweet Memories!

This afternoon after naptime Caden went downstairs while I changed Addison's diaper. When I got downstairs he was sitting in the corner chair with a picture. I could tell by the frame what picture it was. He then said to me, "Mommy who is that man holding the little girl and that lady?" It was a picture of my Grandad holding me and my Nanny (his mother) sitting next to us. I was probably about 4. It's not a great picture, it's kinda dark, but certainly one of my favorite pictures. You see, I was a Grandad's girl!

Throughout the day today he's been asking me to tell him stories about HIS Great Grandad! I love that he claims him even though he's never met him. Tonite I told him about weeks spent at my Grandma and Grandad's...what precious memories. All of the sudden I could smell the smell of onion bagels that lingered back to the bedroom early in the morning. My Grandad ALWAYS got up REALLY early and did the crossword for the day and ALWAYS had an onion bagel with the butter melted just right ready when I got up with grits. After breakfast we'd go on an adventure. No matter where we went it was always fun! Some day's we'd go to my Nanny's together and just hang out and watch the planes land! It was neat telling Caden about my Nanny and the VERY tall apartment complex she lived in and my memories of eating pizza everytime I went to her house at the very same dining room table that is in Caden's Grandma's house now! He couldn't believe it!

Caden couldn't believe that I slept in the very same bed he sleeps in on his visits now! He wasn't convinced that their house could be so old that his Grandma lived there when she was a little girl! I didn't try to explain that Aunt Lindsey and Aunt Laura lived there too...that might have blown his mind! We'll save that for another day! He asked if his Daddy knew him. I told him he didn't. So he went through the list of just about everyone else! Seriously, Mary, Jennifer, Allison, Brian, Chrisptopher, ect..... I told him that his Great Grandad would have loved him and Addison A LOT! I can just imagine...Caden and Addison would be rotten (okay even more rotten than they already are!) Addison is such a sweet reminder of him as I think she looks like my Grandad in a lot of ways!

So...family, Caden will be asking you very soon about Grandad! Start thinking of some fun stories now! He wants to see pictures too!

P.S. Mary and Jennifer would go with me sometimes but sometimes we'd go on our own weeks. One summer Mary lived up there and went to "Summer School" and split her time between Grandma/Grandad's and Nana/Da's! We were lucky that Nana and Da and Grandma and Grandad lived close to each other. Typically we would split out week in half mixed in with some fun times at Aunt Lindsey's! While I have great memories from their house's too! I will have to share memories from Aunt Lindsey's and Nana/Da's soon so one day they'll have all this on paper. However, it was VERY special to share memories of my Grandma and Grandad's with him today...especially my Grandad because our memories are the only memories he'll know of him. I'm thankful he has plenty of his own memories with my other grandparents!

14 weeks today

I can't believe I'm 14 weeks today...and I'll post about Caden first field trip shortly!!!
