Batter Up!

Saturday Caden had his first baseball practice! He did GREAT! His team is the mets! He'll pracrice for the whole month of March and then games start in April! He can't wait! Infact, on the way there he asked me, "Mommy, if I hit a homerun at a game will they shoot fireworks for me?" I guess his only reference point is the Greensboro Grasshoppers! If they do it for them why wouldn't Caden get them too!? Check him out! He's the one fielding the ball in the orange shirt!
I love that you can totally tell he's just impatiently taking a picture for me! He was SO ready to get over there with the rest of the kids!!

Doesn't he look so cute?

Great Wolf Lodge

This past Thursday night we headed to the Great Wolf Lodge with the Conklins! We had a GREAT time! Brandt, Caden, Addison and Highland are all so sweet to each other! We can't wait for them to be just a few miles away!! This was just before we left! Everyone was exhausted!

Caden had a great time pulling the rope to soak his Daddy!

He was happy to be on this side of the rope....I'm not sure that he would have been happy on the soaking end!

Addison was a little fish!

Caden and Addison raced down the slides!

Caden LOVED swimming around the big pool all by himself with the lifejacket! I think he'll really be swimming this year! The name of the game with him is building his confidence. If he doesn't think he can do it he won't try....wonder where he gets that from...hmmm....

Even Addison wore a lifejacket! Although it didn't last long!

The most common sentence we heard from Addison the whole time we were there was, "I want to do orange!" The first time Brian took Ad up the lifeguard looked at him and said she can't ride with you. So, they sent her down by herself! This slide was in the big kid area...but she didn't care. All the lifeguards at the bottom loved her. They would stand in the slide waiting for her to come down. They'd scoop her up even though I was standing right there and would hand her to me! Caden liked the slide but didn't love it! Infact, I think he only did it twice. However, yesterday in the car he asked me if we could go back today because he wanted to give that orange slide another try!

Thursday night we let the kids go to storytime in their jammies since it started at 8!! They loved it! (I just noticed that my belly looks HUGE in this picture! I sure am glad I can't see myself from behind!)

Before storytime Thursday night Caden and Addison got to play in an arcade for the first time ever!! They LOVED it!!! Thank goodness they have no idea what the tickets are for. The girls LOVED this ride...they rode it SEVERAL times together! Highland was so sweet to let Addison drive!

Caden loved skiball....I did too!!

Addison came up with her own technique to get a high score. Seriously, she did this on her own! What a cheater!

We can't wait for our next trip back to the Great Wolf Lodge...but it certainly can't be today sweet Caden!!!

he carries bows for her just like his daddy

Check out the bow attached to his pocket...he's such a sweet brother!

Side Story...When we left the park we went to Chick-fil-a with Jennifer. When we got there I realized we didn't have the trusty hairbow. So, we had lunch and headed back to the park! I'm happy to report that I found the hairbow on the brick path! The things we do for a hairbow!!

battleground park

This morning we went to Battleground park and walked with Jennifer! It was fun...although the kids insisted on walking most of the time so I'm not really sure how much excercise we got! That's okay...it is so nice to be outside without jackets on. I'm really tempted to pack it all away for spring but I know better. I'm sure within a few days we'll be 6 inches deep in snow.

You're Going to Miss This

The other night I was driving home from Awana after 8 with 2 VERY tired children in the van when Trace Adkins song "You're going to miss this" came on the radio. Here are a few of the lyrics...

Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater Dog's barkin', phone's ringin' One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin' She keeps apologizin' He says they don't bother me I've got 2 babies of my own One's 36, one's 23 Huh, it's hard to believe But you're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss thisYou're gonna miss this Yeah, you're gonna miss this

These lyrics struck me. Maybe because I was listening to both kids arguing...however, I really do think one day I'll look back and think those were the days. While they're physically exhausting I still get to control where they are and for the most part what they do. These days are coming to an end! There will be a day I let them get behind the wheel of a car and let me tell you that gives me a panic attack just thinking about it! Addison. behind. the. wheel. of. a. car. Lord help me!!!

In just a few short weeks (hopefully only 8!) our house is about to be turned upside down with the birth of our sweet baby!!! I want to enjoy those days...even with no sleep! I want to soak in every bit of Collins being a baby. Afterall, our plan is for this to be our last baby! I don't want to miss a second. I pray daily that God will help me to slow down and enjoy our babies while they're still babies! These days are fleeting! I register Caden for school in 2 weeks! YIKES!

So...for today, I'm throwing caution to the wind...waking Addison up after only an hour long nap and we're headed out to play and enjoy this beautiful weather! I'll be sure to post pictures later!

Happy Valentines Day Caden and Addison!! Jesus loves you and Mommy and Daddy do too!!!!!!
